About Fill PDF Form
The form is read out of the document and a real control is laid over each field, in the place the field is printed. So the form is filled in reading order, beside the words that say what each box is for, instead of as a column of names like Text1 and Text2 that somebody has to match up themselves. Each control is a genuine one - a text box with a real keyboard, a checkbox reachable by tab, a dropdown that opens your own list - so it works with autofill, with a screen reader, and on a phone.
A document with no interactive form is not turned away, which is the case most tools give up on: a great many things that look like forms are a printed picture of one, with a line to write on and nothing behind it. Click the page and type. What comes back is a real form field, so the next person can fill it in too and this tool can open it again.
Saving writes the values into the form, and the document stays interactive. Flattening paints the answers into the page and removes the interactive layer, which is what to use when the filled form is being sent on and should not be editable.

- Is Fill PDF Form really free?
- Yes. Fill PDF Form is free to use with no account, no daily task limit and no paid tier holding features back. Your result is never watermarked and never held behind an email address. The only real limit is your own device, since the file has to fit in your browser's memory while it is being worked on.
- Is my document uploaded?
- Everything runs inside your browser tab. The file is read with the browser File API, processed in a Web Worker on your machine, and handed back to you as a download. It is never sent to a server.
- My PDF has no fields in it. Can I still type on it?
- Yes. Press Add a text box and click where the writing should go, or drag to set the size. Drag the grey handle to move a box afterwards, and the red button to remove it. Each one becomes a real form field in the saved document rather than text stuck onto the page.
- Why do the boxes not line up with what I see in another reader?
- They should, and on a page that has not been rotated they do - the positions come from the document itself, in its own units. A rotated page is the exception: the rectangles are measured against the page before it was turned, so those fields are listed beside the document instead of placed on it, rather than being put confidently in the wrong spot.
- Should I flatten it?
- Flatten if you are sending the completed form to somebody and it should not be changed afterwards. Leave it unflattened if you or anyone else still has to work on it. You can always flatten later, with Flatten PDF.
- What about signature fields?
- They are listed so you can see they are there, but they are not filled here - a signature field expects a cryptographic signature. Use Sign PDF to place a visible signature on the page.
